The Education Committees of The Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People and the People’s Alliance will host a workshop building on Dr. Kelvin Bullock and Village of Wisdom’s “Community Conversations of Racial Equity” workshop that was held in May 2017 at the Holton Center.
This is Part II of the series for PA's Education Committee to continue the objective of discussing safety and equity for marginalized populations in the education system. The DCABP collaboration embraces the importance of hearing directly from and advocating with black parents.
The panelists include Dr. Kelvin Bullock, DPS Equity director; Jovonia Lewis, PAAC (Parents of African American Children); William Jackson, Village of Wisdom; and Ronda Bullock of We ARE (Working to Extend Anti-Racist Education). The break out session in this workshop will be facilitated by the panelists, and representatives from Advocates for Children Services (Legal Aid), The Youth Justice Project at Southern Coalition for Social Justice and MADE in Durham will be present.
