The Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People (DCABP) Health and Safety Chair Dr. Wanda Boone has been selected to serve on the Durham Saving Lives Working Group, a collaborative coalition dedicated to reducing community violence through prevention, intervention, and coordinated public safety strategies. The working group brings together representatives from the City of Durham, Durham County, law enforcement, public health agencies, behavioral health providers, community-based organizations, faith leaders, youth-serving organizations, schools, and residents to develop evidence-informed solutions that address the root causes of violence. Through data sharing, community engagement, crisis intervention, and violence prevention initiatives, the Durham Saving Lives Working Group seeks to improve public safety, strengthen neighborhood resilience, and ensure that every Durham resident has the opportunity to live in a safe and healthy community. DCABP's participation ensures that the voices and priorities of Durham's Black community are represented in shaping policies and strategies that promote equity, trust, and lasting reductions in violence.
Thank you Dr. Boone
